The Village Story

Hidden in the small town of Carthage, Texas, is the beautiful gem known as The Village Salon. For 20 years The Village has serviced many members in the Carthage community. From extensions, to waxing and tanning, haircuts for the family and a variety of coloring techniques, the experts at The Village Salon can take care of your styling needs. Owner and president of the salon, Karen Peterson, followed her dream to open this salon after living in Dallas and teaching beauty college.

Karen attended the Paris School of Beauty in Paris, Texas, and 9 years later received her Instructors License from Panola College. She became a Regional Director for Aladdin Beauty College, and oversaw 8 schools in the Dallas area. When she moved to Carthage, she knew she wanted to bring everything a big salon in Dallas could offer to a small town. Despite being told that a salon that big would never work in a small town, she pursued her dream with everything she had.

Now, The Village Salon is the longest standing salon, that offers the newest techniques in hair and beauty in the East Texas area. Karen

travels to different conferences around the nation to continue her education in beauty and business. While she always makes sure she can offer the newest and best to her clients, the most important part of her job is getting to touch the lives of those around her. “I do this because I love to touch people. You can touch their lives while you are touching their hair,” she said.

If you get a chance to sit in her chair, Karen will make sure you feel comfortable, cared for and listened to. The love she shares with her clients is something that permeates the atmosphere of The Village, and is reflected by each employee that works there.

The Village Salon is not like any other salon you go to. They are a family, and their clients are an extension of that family. When you come in, not only do you leave looking amazing, you leave feeling beautiful because as Karen says, “We work to bring out your inner beauty. Beauty on the inside creates beauty on the outside.
